Balbir, Franklin upset Dulaney, 2-0


Alex Balbir made nine saves, recording his first shutout of the season, to lead visiting Franklin to a 2-0 upset of No. 11 Dulaney (1-2) in boys soccer yesterday.

Franklin's Jamie Glick scored off a penalty kick five minutes into the game. Nick Heinz added the second goal, scoring unassisted 20 minutes into the second half.

* Chesapeake-AA 2, South River 1: Andy Dziuban and Blake Moore scored to lead No. 13 Chesapeake-AA (3-1) over South River (1-3).

Girls soccer

* Loch Raven 1, Hereford 0: Terri Winkler scored to lift No. 2 Loch Raven (3-0) past Hereford (3-2).

* Dulaney 9, Franklin 2: Paige Young and Ali Schuch each scored two goals and had one assist to pace No. 3 Dulaney (4-0) past Franklin.

* Glen Burnie 2, Old Mill 0: Courtney Lemon and Marianne Ogle each scored to lead host Glen Burnie over No. 10 Old Mill (1-2).

* Liberty 5, North Hagerstown 0: Shanna Ziegensuss had two goals and an assist to lift No. 13 Liberty over host North Hagerstown.

* St. Mary's 2, John Carroll 1: Senior striker Erin Hon scored

twice in No. 14 St. Mary's (3-3) victory over host John Carroll (1-2-1).

Field hockey

* Bryn Mawr 4, Oldfields 1: Senior forward Meredith Mao scored two goals to lead No. 13 Bryn Mawr over visiting Oldfields.

* St. Mary's 1, Arundel 1: Arundel's Michelle Hanie and St. Mary's Natalie Brookman scored as the teams played to a double-overtime tie.
