Hitchhiker hit on road dies of injuries

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A 30-year-old hitchhiker, who was struck while walking along Stone Chapel Road early Tuesday, died at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore at 1:30 a.m. yesterday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Brian Keith Lee, who lived in the 1800 block of Bowersox Road, New Windsor, was struck about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, police reported.

A car had stopped on the road to give Mr. Lee a lift, police said, as a 1984 Chevrolet Camaro driven by Kevin D. Mills, 20, of Marriottsville approached. When Mr. Mills braked to avoid hitting the stopped vehicle, his car skidded and struck Mr. Lee, they said.

The Camaro also hit a tree. Mr. Mills was teated at Carroll County General Hospital and released, a spokeswoman said.
