7-Eleven robbery attempt fails as store camera unnerves man

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A clerk at a 7-Eleven store in the 4000 block of Ritchie Highway foiled a robbery attempt Sunday night by telling the would-be thief that his actions were being recorded on video camera, county police said.

The man had entered the store shortly before 11 p.m. and walked up to the counter. He put a pint of milk and a paper bag on the counter and told the clerk to put all the money in the bag, claiming he had a gun in his pocket, police said.

The clerk initially had trouble getting the register open. When she finally did, she looked at the suspect and said, "You know you're on camera. Is this little bit of money worth it?"

The man looked at the camera and ran from the store.
