The theme of the month will be "Explore Your Neighborhood."

Also that evening, the Cubs will be given instructions on the pack's annual fund-raiser, its candy sale. Candy will be distributed at den meetings in September.

Rockburn Elementary School in Elkridge will hold its Back to School night at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The meeting will be in the school's cafeteria. After a short business meeting, parents will be given two half-hour sessions with the school's teachers.

School programs, policies and curriculum will be explained during the sessions.

The business meeting will include a presentation from a representative of Elkridge National Bank to explain the newly formed partnership between the bank and the school.

Elkridge Bank has set up a branch office in Rockburn School by building tellers booths and training fourth- and fifth-graders. Children can make deposits twice a month. The bank is called "A Piece of the Rock," a name created by Ryan Losonsky and voted best name by the student body.

Ryan received a $50 gift certificate from Elkridge National Bank for inventing the winning name.

In other Rockburn news, the school has chosen a mascot, the raccoon.

The students will now be know as the Rockburn Rangers. On Sept. 26, parent Gabrielle Parks will make a presentation about raccoons to each team in the school.

Rockburn students should wear their Rockburn Rangers T-shirts that day.
