Bus-truck accident closes part of Route 32
Maryland State Police closed Route 32 between Bollinger Mill Road and Route 91 for about an hour Friday afternoon as officials cleared debris after an accident involving a school bus and a truck.
Police said the bus, which was empty, was traveling south on Route 32 when a small truck headed north sideswiped the bus. The bus ran off the road and hit a utility pole.
The truck also hit a vehicle behind the bus.
The driver of the truck, whose name was not available, was charged with failing to stay to the right of center.
Farm museum seeking heaviest pumpkin

The Carroll County Farm Museum is in search of the heaviest
pumpkin for a contest during fall harvest days Oct. 8 and 9.
Anyone with a large pumpkin to enter should take it to the Farm Museum, 500 S. Center St., Westminster, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. before Oct. 7.
All participants will get a free pass to fall harvest days.
Weigh-in for pumpkins will start at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 8 near the stage. First-, second- and third-place ribbons will be awarded.

County residents give $22,840 to bay fund
More than 1,670 Carroll countians contributed $22,839.82 to the Maryland Chesapeake Bay and Endangered Species Fund on tax returns filed during fiscal year 1994.
Marylanders contributed $1,036,960 to the fund in their 1994 tax returns.
