C. Milton Wright Mustangs
1993 record: 13-1. Coach: Bill Lang.
Top players: Matt Ramsey, Sr.; Paolo Martinelli, Sr.; Phil McGuire, Jr.; Brad Magness, Soph.; Billy Pannill, Soph.
Outlook: This is the beginning of a rebuilding period, as there are nine freshmen and sophomores. There is some talent, however, and Lang sees them maintaining an aggressive, positive attitude.
Edgewood Rams
1993 record: 5-7. Coach: Roy Norris.
Top players: Thomas Cheung, Sr.; Lamarr Coleman, Sr.; Rob Ray, Sr.; Steve Schriver, Sr.; Louis Bradley, Soph.
Outlook: The 12 players are the most Norris has had, but they include 10 who have never played, five of them freshmen. The group has come a long way already, and although Norris sees the first part of the schedule as an uphill struggle and is hopeful of a .500 season, an early win would do wonders.
Fallston Cougars
1993 record: 11-3. Coach: Dean Heffner.
Top players: Max Reinheldt, Sr.; Tim Fisher, Sr.; Aaron Wheeler, Jr.; Don Fisher, Jr.; Robby Clary, Soph.
Outlook: A good mixture of high-powered offense and strong defense has Heffner looking to improve on last year's record.
Harford Tech Cobras
1993 record: 4-11. Coach: Lisa Roush.
Top players: Ryan Harris, Sr.; Chris Rogers, Sr.; Mike Rodriguez, Sr.; Mike Radel, Sr.
Outlook: First-year coach Roush will emphasize improvement in communication and accuracy in the early going. With a strong starting team, she expects to better 1993's record.
Havre de Grace Warriors
1993 record: No team. Coach: Kathy Graybeal.
Top players: Jon Carr, Sr.; David Briggs, Jr.; Kevin Gross, Jr.; Jody Hochstein, Jr.; Charlie Bomboy, Jr.; Joe Oliphant, Soph.; Josh White, Fresh.
Outlook: An enthusiastic group makes up the school's first team in this sport in 10 years. Graybeal's goal is to be able to compete with other schools. With Carr's leadership and the height of the team, the strength will be hitting and blocking.
John Carroll Patriots
1993 record: 11-1. Coach: Herb Simon.
Top players: Matt Gradishar, Sr.; Paul Kim, Sr.; Mike Babiak, Sr.; Tim DeCapite, Jr.; David Chun, Jr.; Mike Penrose, Jr.; Scott Kaufman, Jr.; Greg Grabowski, Jr.
Outlook: Babiak is the only returning starter, as the Patriots lost five starters for the second straight year. Although it is basically a new group, tradition points to another successful season.
Joppatowne Mariners
1993 record: 1-13. Coach: Bill McQuiston.
Top players: Eric King, Sr.; Max Schulte, Sr.; Jim Harris, Jr.; Jon Hasert, Jr.
Outlook: This is a a small, rebuilding team. Its strength is in its attack, but the setters and defense will need time to work together.
North Harford Hawks
1993 record: 5-5. Coach: Paul Gain.
Top players: Eric Hall, Sr.; Randy Krastel, Sr.; Philip Valek, Sr.; Greg Sams, Jr.
Outlook: There is a lot of talent, but the players must concentrate on fundamentals and stick to a game plan to be successful.
