Donna's sets BMA opening

Donna's at the BMA will be open for business by the beginning of next week at the latest, according to owner-chef Donna Crivello. But call the Baltimore Museum of Art's new cafe at (410) 467-3600 to make sure of the exact date; her partner Alan Hirsch insists they'll be open today.

The newest Donna's, Ms. Crivello says, will have a menu that combines the best of their downtown coffee bar and their restaurant. It will be open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday (until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday), with brunch on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Donna's Restaurant downtown -- but not the coffee bar -- is no longer open for lunch because the partners and staff want to focus their energies on the latest acquisition.

* A new Indian restaurant with full bar is scheduled to open by next weekend where the Harvey House used to be. Mughal Garden, 920 N. Charles St., (410) 547-0001, will have a wide selection of both north and south Indian dishes; tandoori cooking will be a specialty. Hours are 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily.

* The Thai Restaurant on Greenmount was Baltimore's first, and perhaps the best, Thai restaurant in town. Now the Thai will have a sibling by the end of this month. Called Mai Thai, it's located in Federal Hill at 1032 Light St., (410) 539-5611.

The renovations are finished; owner and chef Tussnee Singparu says she's just waiting for the health department inspection to be completed. While the menu isn't finalized, the emphasis will be on "healthier foods -- more noodles and seafood."

* The telephone for 2110, the small French restaurant on North Charles Street, has been disconnected. Chef Benny Gordon, who also owns Benny's, the jazz club a little farther north on Charles Street, won't say what his plans for 2110 are. "I might sell it, I might not," he told me. "I might reopen, I might not."
