Third suspect charged in shooting

A third person has been arrested and charged with assault with intent to murder in the Aug. 27 shooting of Reginald Kerick.

The man is accused of holding Mr. Kerick, 23, of the 2000 block of Allen Drive, while another man tried to shoot him on Newtowne Drive. Mr. Kerick broke free, but was shot in the hand as he fled, police said.

Donald David Chew Jr., 21, of the 1800 block Bowman Court in Annapolis was arrested by city police Thursday and was being held on $40,000 bond.

Two others believed to have been involved in the shooting have been charged.

Pedestrian charged with carrying knives

A man carrying a 3 1/2 -inch dagger and a 3-inch cleaver was arrested Thursday morning as he walked along Mayo Road, county police said.

Officer Brian Fleig noticed a man wearing a black coat and hood walking on Mayo Road near Potomac Road shortly after 1 a.m. The officer stopped the man because several area businesses were burglarized recently, police said.

Officer Fleig searched the man and found a dagger in his waistband and a cleaver in his left back pocket, police said.

Michael David Henderson, 18, of the 100 block of Mayo Road was arrested and charged with carrying concealed weapons, police said.

Dresses are stolen from bridal store

The manager of the Royal Formal and Bridal store in the Annapolis Mall told police Wednesday afternoon that three dresses were stolen.

Kathy Riley called police about 2:30 p.m. and told them the dresses were stolen sometime between Labor Day and Wednesday. The total value of dresses was about $1,400, she said.
