Colonial conviviality

The wench is back. At the Maryland Inn in Annapolis, that is. She'll be setting the table on Sept. 21 for the return of the Publik Table, a rollicking and rowdy re-creation of a Colonial tavern. Merry men and women should forward to a feast of roast beast, fowl and vegetation, plus plenty of wine, mead and other spirits. Actress Kathleen Baker will entertain with songs from current stage shows. Said feast and entertainment will cost 25 American dollars, not including the governor's taxes and gratuities for the servants.

A global perspective

When Tom McCall and Samantha Moore decided they needed a break from the pressures of daily journalism, did they head down the ocean for a week? Not this intrepid pair. In September 1993, the couple set off on an around-the-world journey that lasted nearly a year. They went scuba diving among sharks in Australia's Coral Sea, crossed the Himalayas to reach Tibet's Forbidden Lands, searched for tigers in Nepal. They tooks tons of pictures, of course, and if you're willing to trek to Easton you can see what they saw. Thirty-five of their photographs are on display now through Sept. 29 at the Academy of the Arts in this Talbot County town.
