* The Naval Academy defeated the Elizabeth Athletic Club of New Jersey 6-0 in the first football game of the season. The visiting team outweighed the Academy team, their average weight being over 170 pounds with one player over six feet in height. -- The Sun, Oct. 6, 1894.

* Alfred Miller, mate of the pungy G. A. Karwon, was killed and James Dale of the pungy Ariel wounded while supposedly attempting to rob fish nets off Mountain Point, by persons on shore. -- The Sun, Oct. 23, 1894.

* John R.
