WORLD RECORD SET AT ROSECROFT

THE BALTIMORE SUN

FORT WASHINGTON -- CR Kay Suzie, a Royal Troubador filly, went wire to wire in 1 minute, 56.1 seconds, clocking the fastest mile ever for a 2-year-old trotter in capturing her division of the $97,975 Kentucky Standardbred Sales Co. Trot last night at Rosecroft Raceway.

Trained and driven by Rod Allen, CR Kay Suzie set fractions of :26.4 to the quarter, :55.1 at the half and 1:24.2 for the 3/4-mile mark. Allen had plenty left, as she smashed the 1:57.1 filly world record held by Peace Corps, the richest harness horse of all time.

CR Kay Suzie's effort also beat the colt mark of 1:56.2, set by King Conch in the 1991 Breeders Crown.
