Terps await appeal ruling

Maryland still hasn't received notice on the status of its appeal of the academic ineligibility of defensive tackles Johnnie Hicks and Tim Watson.

Even if Maryland received word today that they were eligible, coach Mark Duffner said it was unlikely the two would play tomorrow against Florida State.

"I wouldn't throw them into something they haven't had a chance to prepare for," Duffner said.

Richard Abrams (Arundel) and converted offensive guard Pat Ward probably will become the ninth and 10th freshmen to play on the Terps' defensive line since the 1993 opener.
