THE BALTIMORE SUN

Two Washington-area men were arrested on drug charges Sunday morning after county police stopped their car for a traffic violation at New Freetown and Whitaker roads, police said.

Cpl. Michael Belcher and Officer Roger Crawford of the Northern District stopped two men in a 1984 Chevrolet shortly after 2:30 a.m. They arrested the driver when they discovered he was driving on a suspended license. The officers asked the passenger to step out of the car and arrested him after they saw a small amount of suspected marijuana on the passenger seat, police said.

Officers found 12 small bags and three large bags of suspected crack cocaine on the passenger after searching him at the district station, police said. The suspect also had material for packaging crack cocaine, police said.

John David White, 21, of the 900 block of Seventh St. S.E., Washington, was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and with driving with a suspended license, police said. The passenger in his car, Marc Warren Watts of the 7800 block of Addison Road in Capitol Heights, was charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, police said.
