&TC; Labor Day, the traditional end of summertime fun, ended calmly and coolly for many Marylanders.
The weather sent many home early from the shore, holding down the usual end-of-holiday snarls in traffic. A blustery storm with 12-foot waves off Ocean City also seemed to discourage some vacationers.
For the most part, yesterday was a fine day for picnics, softball games or gathering out on the deck or back yard and eating crabs.
The fall-like weather will continue the rest of the week, according to National Weather Service forecaster Amet Figueroa at Baltimore-Washington International Airport.
