Twenty Carroll County 4-H'ers were awarded champion ribbons for indoor exhibits at the Maryland State Fair this week, Carroll County 4-H extension agent Rita Zimmerman said yesterday.
Judging for outdoor exhibits -- such as riding competitions, animal shows and tractor driving -- will continue through the rest of the fair, which closes Monday, she said.
The winners are:
* Booths -- Deep Run 4-H Club, Chevonaire Dairy Goat Club and Black Rock 4-H Club.
* Banner -- Pleasant Valley 4-H Club.
* Crafts -- Senior champion to Jimmy Woods for an original pottery rendition of his head; junior champion to Laura Gist for a soft-sculpture Santa Claus.
* Photo -- Junior champion in color to Jennifer Moore; senior champion in color to Shawn Collerin.
* Food -- Junior reserve champion to Timmy Owings for a tea ring; junior champion to Stephanie Meushaw for a chocolate TTC cake; senior reserve champion to Sarah Dyky for a basket containing at least five different types of bread; senior champion to Tracy Clagett for a cake.
* Learn and Earn -- Senior champion to Cheryl Owings.
* Clothing -- Junior champion to Miriam Beard for a dress; intermediate champion to Rachel Dyky for a wool suit.
* Home Environment -- Junior reserve champion to Amy Davidson for a crochet quilt.
Senior champion in home environment went to Lisa Wagner for a 20-inch by 20-inch cross-stitch picture.
* Electric -- Senior reserve champion to Josh Kibler.
* Dish Garden -- Champion to Ross Bair.
* Child Care -- Champion to Rebecca Dowsley.
