Chicago White Sox -- Signed a two-year player development agreement with the Prince William Cannons of the Single-A Carolina League.

Texas -- Suspended WR Lovell Pinkney and WR Mike Adams, both junior starters, for Saturday's game at Pittsburgh for violating the NCAA's amateurism rule by using a rental car provided for them.

Vanderbilt -- Named Ben Norton graduate assistant football coach.

United States' President's Cup -- Scott Hoch and Fred Couples gained places on the U.S. team with high finishes in the NEC World Series of Golf in Akron, Ohio, the last qualifying event for the competition in Manassas Lake, Va. Sept. 16-18. The other American team members are Tom Lehman, Corey Pavin, John Huston, Loren Roberts, Jim Gallagher, captain Hale Irwin and Davis Love III.
