KINSTON, N.C. -- Billy Owens' run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning sparked a seven-run ninth inning that carried the Frederick Keys to an 8-1 victory over the Kinston Indians in the first game of a Carolina League last night.
It was the completion of a game suspended by rain Friday night after five innings with the teams tied 1-1.
Last night's regularly scheduled game was rained out and will be made up as part of a double-header today starting at 5 p.m.
The Keys had just three hits in the ninth, also scoring on a wild pitch, error and a hit batter.
