* First Lt. Vincent A. Kramer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew A. Kramer of Annapolis, was described as a one-man P-47 Thunderbolt task force after destroying two Tiger tanks and six trucks on a mission from a Ninth Air Force base in France. -- The Sun, Sept. 7, 1944.
* The old Linthicum Heights Town Hall was razed by fire yesterday. In the old days it had been the center of community activities including lawn fetes with homemade ice cream and luscious "Ann' Randel" strawberries at 15 cents a plate. -- The Sun, Sept. 7, 1944.
* The Army has confirmed that Capt. Leonard T. Schroeder, Jr. of North Linthicum was the first man from an assault boat on the beaches on D-Day. The captain was wounded in the arm by shrapnel and evacuated to England with the first casualties. He is being cited for a Silver Star. -- The Sun, Sept. 19, 1944.
