A 42-year-old Burtonsville man was killed yesterday afternoon when he was thrown from his motorcycle after it hit an embankment on Old Scaggsville Road near Bryant Avenue in Laurel, police said.

Eric Reed Capster, of the 2500 block of Spencerville Road, was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. at Laurel Regional Hospital where he was taken by ambulance after the 2:45 p.m. accident, police said.

Police said Mr. Capster was traveling west on Old Scaggsville Road when he failed to negotiate a slight curve. They said the motorcycle left the roadway and hit an embankment, throwing Mr. Capster and the motorcycle a short distance back onto the road.
