* 18-and-under -- All season long, the Razorbacks' Darnerien McCants has lifted his team with what is unquestionably one of the best offensive repertoires in The Supreme Sports Club High School Basketball League.
But with one mighty heave this past weekend, McCants gave his team a lift they couldn't have expected.
Right into this Saturday's championship game.
With the second-seeded Razorbacks trailing the third-seeded Blue Devils by two points and just two seconds left, McCants hit a 45-foot jump shot to give his team a 77-76 win.
The shot gave McCants a game-high 36 points. Mike Brown also added 23 points for the victors.
Sekou Hayes led the Blue Devils with 27 points, followed by Damon Cole (21), Simon Bwalya (13) and Keilan Matthews (12).
The Razorbacks will face the top-seeded Hoyas, 61-31 victors over the fourth-seeded Bruins.
Corey Butler led the Hoyas with 15 points, Tom Selkeld had 12, James Rumann had 11 and Donald Wallace II added 10. For the Bruins, Paul Sim had 11 and Sean Jefferson had nine.
Elsewhere in The Supreme Sports Club leagues, close games were the order of the week.
In Sunday's action at the Columbia facility, five of the six games were decided by seven points or less.
The only exception to that came in the 13-14 league where the Knicks continued to tear through the competition while improving their mark to 5-0.
* 13-14 boys -- The Knicks had an easy time with the Suns, breaking out early and running away for a 61-25 victory.
Greg Gray paced the offense with a game-high 32 points, while Thomas Browne and Will Gray threw in 20 and 10, respectively.
Garth DeAngelis (15) and Todd Yasbin led the Suns (1-4).
In the league's other game, Derwin Simpson scored 20 points, Corey Simpson had 13, Allen Scott had 12 and Ed Lopez added 10 as the Celtics improved to 2-3 with a 59-52 win over the Rockets.
Kirk Henlon scored 18 and Dawud Wallace added 16 for the Rockets (3-2).
* 10-12 boys -- Both the Terps and the Eagles enjoyed narrow victories last week to eclipse the .500 mark.
The Terps (3-2) defeated the Irish, 30-24, as Scott Kincaid scored and Greg Mare added eight. Corey Conaway and Tess Romitieach scored six for the Irish (2-3).
Steven Payne scored 10 points and Quincy Herron added eight as the Eagles (3-2) defeated the Hoyas, 48-43. Corey Simpson scored a game-high 18 points and Stephen Coursey added 11 for the Hoyas (2-3).
* 8-9 boys -- In a battle of 2-2 teams, the Junior Spurs got 10 points from Anthony Gaither en route to an 18-15 win over the Junior Hornets. Wylie Gunn led the Hornets with seven points.
In the other game last week, the Junior Sonics knocked off the Junior Warriors, 31-26. Hassan Muhammad led the Sonics (2-3) with 19 points and Brad Mandart added 10. Bobby McCall paced the Warriors (3-2) with nine and Brian Cunningham added eight.
