* Men's league -- Ski's Laundramat cruised past Warner's Contractors, 17-2, in the Carroll County Men's League Postseason Tournament.
Ski's jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on Al Forney's two-run single and Les Dinsmore's RBI single.
Warner's got one run back in the third on a triple by John Finch and Marcey Poole's sacrifice fly.
Ski's scored five in the home third to up its lead to 8-1. Forney rapped his second two-run single in the inning, and another run scored on the play after a throwing error.
Ski's erupted for nine more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Stan Young's two-run homer, Shaun Richards' two-run double and an RBI two-bagger by Tom Becker keyed the inning.
Warner's scored its second run on another triple by Finch and Poole's second sacrifice fly.
Yalich Clinic had only one good inning in its game against Small's. But that 10-run, 12-hit second inning was just enough, as Yalich hung on to win, 10-9.
Going 2-for-3 for the winners were Craig Hahn, Chris Lookingbill, Tony Hahn, Steve Schurg, Donald Frock and Shane Dull.
Dennis Frock, who had a two-run single in the big second inning, was 2-for-4, as was Abey Abend.
Randy Barton went 3-for-4 for Small's, as did Chris Weir.
Small's Todd Gentry, John Weir, Mike Gaver and Rob Massive were each 2-for-4. Chris Small was also 2-for-4, scoring twice.
The Raiders took a 9-8 thriller over McMillion Contractors, scoring the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Raiders scored the deciding tally when Vinny Duffy's fourth hit drove in Mark Riggs from second base.
McMillion's John Muth had tied the game, 8-8, with a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh. Tim Carry was 2-for-3, and scored two runs for McMillion.
McMillion's Marty Klebe, Doug Shuey and John Shuey were each 2-for-4.
The Raiders' Dave Dodson reached base four times, rapping out two singles and walking twice.
Tim Wantz, Gary Wantz and Brian Trumpower were each 2-for-4 for the Raiders.
EVAPCO scored five runs in the first inning, six more in the second, and moved on to a 17-7 victory over the Mavericks.
Ross Lau, who went 3-for-3 with five RBIs for EVAPCO, hit a three-run homer in the opening inning.
Tommy Gephardt, who hit a two-run double in the EVAPCO second, went 2-for-4, as did Steve Britt.
Dale Horton went 3-for-4 for the winners, with three RBIs.
The Mavericks managed one big inning of their own, scoring five times in the second inning.
Tom Beverly had a two-run double, and Jim Blizzard, a two-run single, in that inning. They and teammates Danny Marshall and Fred Miller were each 2-for-3.
Bachman Valley Inn beat E.W. Beck's/Paradiso Restaurant, 9-1.
Paul Drew paced the winners with two two-run homers and scored three runs.
Ed Drew scored three runs for the winners and had two hits, and Ken Eckard also had two hits for Bachman Valley.
E.W. Beck's started off much better in its next game, but was eventually buried in Smitty's hitting barrage, 24-15.
Beck's/Paradiso jumped to a 9-0 lead in its first two at-bats.
Leading its offense were Randy Johnson, Larry Johnson and Bobby Mitchell, all of whom were 3-for-4. Larry Johnson scored four runs, and Randy Johnson scored twice.
Chris Yingling went 2-for-4 for Beck's/Paradiso, scoring two runs.
Smitty's scored eight runs in the second to cut its deficit to 12-9. It then erupted for 11 runs in the fifth. Royal Chavious' three-run homer broke a 12-12 tie, and Rick Hill added a two-run shot in the inning.
The two were each 3-for-4. Troy Warehime hit a two-run homer later in the game and was also 3-for-4 for Smitty's. Russell Smith and Phil Smith were 4-for-4 and 3-for-4, respectively.
* Church league -- Jerusalem Lutheran blanked Grace Lutheran, 9-0, behind the pitching of Ron Seigman.
Kevin Welsh and Craig Spencer each had two-run singles for Jerusalem, which broke the game open with a six-run fifth inning. David Hoff, in addition to playing an outstanding defensive game at shortstop for Jerusalem, went 3-for-4. Tom Barrick was 3-for-3.
Jerusalem also defeated Union Bridge Brethren, 18-10. Jerusalem jumped ahead, 4-0, after two innings, only to see Union Bridge score eight runs over the next three innings to go ahead, 10-9, after five.
Spencer and Steve Bowersox smacked two-run singles in a four-run sixth that saw Jerusalem pull ahead to stay, 13-10.
The winners clinched things in a five-run seventh inning during which Chris Green hit a three-run double. Barrick and Hoff were again instrumental in the Jerusalem attack. Each went 3-for-5.
Freedom Optimist soccer
* Under-10 boys -- The Blue Division-winning Freedom Strikers ,, edged Deer Park, 4-3. Kris Chinery scored twice for the Strikers; Chris Schreiner and Patrick Chinery each added a goal for the Strikers. Justin Jones had an assist for Freedom.
Freedom then tied Mount Airy, 1-1. Anthony Nardi's goal put Freedom ahead, 1-0, in the first half, but Mount Airy later tied it.
Freedom fullbacks Trevor Havey, Kevin Brilhart and Dean Tolson played strong games defensively, and goalkeeper Ryan Keller had a good effort.
* Under-12 boys -- The Freedom Spirit placed second in the under-12 Blue Division with a 1-0-2 record.
It tied the Westminster A team, 1-1. Westminster went ahead, 1-0 early in the game, but Colin Wilson's goal tied things later in the first half.
Andy Stickles played well in goal for Freedom, and Steven Powers was outstanding at sweeper. Wing Bobby Fortenberry did an excellent job of bringing the ball downfield.
The Spirit also beat eventual divisional winner Deer Park, 3-1. Wilson scored all three goals, two coming after intermission to break a 1-1 tie. Stickles was again outstanding at sweeper, and stopper Justin Waagbo also contributed a strong defensive effort.
The under-12 Red and Blue divisional winners were both Deer Park squads. The Deer Park B squad blanked the South Carroll B team, 2-0.
Justin Starnes and Marc Canneli scored the two goals; Starnes and Chad Greensfelder had assists.
Fullback Jason Komar turned in a fine defensive effort. Starnes scored three goals as Deer Park's B's nipped the South Carroll team, 5-4. Mandy Komar also had a Deer Park score.
Possibly, though, the biggest Freedom goal was one by Kristopher Harford. This came with two minutes left in the game, tying things, 4-4.
Starnes later scored his third goal to win it. He also had an assist, as did Greensfelder. Matt Walsh added two assists.
The Deer Park A team shut out all three of its opponents in winning the Red Division title.
John Hajewski scored twice in leading Deer Park to a 4-0 win over South Carroll's A team. Jason Holman and Randy Vallis also had goals for the winners.
Deer Park then blanked the South Carroll B squad, 8-0. Matt Oswiecimka scored three goals in the win, and Michael Garzon added two. Michael McGinnis, Kyle Koslowski and Jason Holman each added a goal.
Deer Park then ran its shutout streak to three by stopping Westminster, 4-0. Garzon, McGinnis, Oswiecimka and Hajewski had the winners' goals.
Leading the Deer Park defense in the three wins were fullbacks )) Colin Boeh, Mike McGuire and Mike Bach. Koslowski also played well in part-time duty on the backline. Boeh, McGuire and Vallis also performed flawlessly in goal for Deer Park.
* 14-and-under boys -- Deer Park's A team beat Francis Scott Key, 9-1, in Red Division action.
Matt Marrichi and Ian Weiland led the Deer Park attack with two goals apiece.
Mike Nixon, Tony Legge, Tim Storch, Eric Anderson and Allen Silfee each added a goal for the winners. Legge added two assists, as did Marrichi, Weiland and Storch. Also contributing assists for the Deer Park B's were Troy Laver, Michael Haines, Kevin Greene and Sean Vallis. Deer Park fullbacks Michael McCurry and Greene played well, as did goalkeeper Michael Schmitz.
Deer Park also tied Freedom United, 2-2. Storch and Marrichi scored goals for Deer Park, and Laver contributed an assist.
Sweeper Roger Davenport and stopper Chris Brothers contributed strong defensive play. But Freedom FC blanked Deer Park for the divisional title, 2-0.
Rick Warehime scored the Freedom goals, while Nick Hoover and Tim Groves added assists. Groves played well at center halfback.
Goalkeeper Craig Lauser turned in a strong defensive effort for Freedom.
Earlier, Freedom FC had beaten Freedom United, 3-1.
Pete Schaffer, John Somers and Raymond Tignall scored for Freedom, which led all the way in the game.
Fullbacks Michael Reese and Dale Purek supported with strong defense.
