Man points gun at woman and her 7-year-old son

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A 42-year-old Glen Burnie man who allegedly pointed a loaded shotgun at a mother and child because the woman was blowing her car horn was arrested Monday afternoon, police said.

The 26-year-old woman told police she was outside her house in the 1400 block of Dorsey Road in Hanover around 5 p.m. when she honked the horn to get her sister's attention. A man then walked up to her and said he was tired of her blowing the horn, police said.

The woman told police she thought the man was joking and she walked into her house. When she she came back outside, the man pointed a 12-gauge shotgun at her 7-year-old son, who was sitting in the car, police said. The man pointed the gun at the woman after she asked if he was kidding, police said.

Officers found the man on his porch, arms raised in the air. They asked about the shotgun, and he told them it was in the house, police said.

The man admitted pointing the shotgun, but said he did it because the woman's horn-blowing disturbed his parents, who live two doors from her. The man said he aimed the shotgun to make a point, but did not intend to shoot anyone, police said.

Richard Millard Jeffery, 42, of the 100 block of Faywood Court was charged with assault and reckless endangerment in the incident.
