THE BALTIMORE SUN

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Brian DuBois pitched three hitless innings of relief and Tom Quinlan broke a tie with a run-scoring fielder's choice in the 10th inning to lead the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons past the Rochester Red Wings, 7-5, last night in a Triple-A International League game. DuBois (4-0) is a former Orioles farmhand.

With the loss, the fourth-place Red Wings dropped 3 1/2 games behind the second-place Syracuse Chiefs for the final playoff spot in the IL Eastern Division.

Rochester's Steve Adkins dropped his fifth straight decision. Damon Buford hit his 15th home run in the first inning, when the Red Wings took a 3-1 lead.
