Dave Pietramala is going home.

Johns Hopkins head lacrosse coach Tony Seaman yesterday named Pietramala as the Blue Jays' new full-time assistant coach, filling the vacancy created by the departure of John Haus, who is now head coach at Washington College.

"I feel bad leaving Loyola College because it's a great place but, on the other hand, I'm also very excited to come back and coach at the place where I played," said Pietramala, an assistant coach for the Greyhounds last season. "It has always been a dream of mine to one day coach at Johns Hopkins."

At Hopkins, Pietramala earned All-America honors three times and twice received the Schmeisser Award as the top defenseman in Division I. In 1989 -- his senior year -- he was the recipient of the Enners Award, as the most outstanding collegiate lacrosse player.

A year later, he was named the Outstanding Performer at the International Lacrosse Federation World Championships in Australia after leading Team USA to the world title. In July, he again earned All-World recognition when the United States repeated as champion.

"He has developed into an excellent defensive coach, gaining valuable experience at two Division I programs [Loyola and Penn]," said Seaman. "He has also been directly involved in the ** recruiting process."
