School crossing guard needed 10 hours a week in Taneytown

Taneytown needs an individual who likes to work with children to serve as a school crossing guard 10 hours a week.

The volunteer will work at Baumgardner Avenue and Baltimore Street during the school year.

The Police Department will provide brief training.

FIRE

* New Windsor: Engines from New Windsor, Westminster and Union Bridge were sent to a house fire in the 2000 block of Brick Church Road at 9:11 p.m. Sunday. They were out 30 minutes.

* Taneytown: Firefighters from Taneytown responded to an oil spill on East Baltimore Street at 7:19 a.m. Saturday. They were out nearly two hours.

* Harney: Firefighters from Harney assisted Frederick County in the 16600 block of S. Seton Ave., Emmitsburg, at 6:44 p.m. Friday. They were out 35 minutes.
