Youth beaten at restaurant phone

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A Glen Burnie youth told police six other youths attacked him and beat him unconscious Sunday night while he was using a phone at the McDonald's on Ritchie Highway and Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard, officials said.

Ray Ivan Stepp, 17, who lives on Maryland Avenue, received cuts, bruises and a possible broken nose. He told police he was on the restaurant's phone around 10:30 p.m. when the other youths walked up to him and "started giving him a hard time." He tried to run but the youths caught and beat him, police said.

Several members of Mr. Stepp's family went to the McDonald's and talked to witnesses, who identified one of the suspects. Officers went to that youth's home but could not find him, police said.
