Teen-age bicyclist struck by car dies

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Robert J. Myer, the 14-year-old son of a retired Baltimore police officer, died Saturday of injuries suffered last week when a car struck his bicycle.

The driver, Sam Brunetto, 70, of the 7100 block of Eastbrook Ave. has been charged with drunken driving.

Robert was riding a bicycle in the 6400 block of E. Lombard St. when he was hit by a 1994 Ford Taurus about 3:15 p.m. Thursday, police said. Officer Robert W. Weinhold Jr., a police spokesman, said the teen-ager suffered severe head injuries. He was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he died Saturday.

Robert was the son of former Officer Carter H. Myer, who retired last year from the Eastern District.

He also is survived by his mother, Beverly A. Myer; two brothers, Carter J. Myer and Stephen G. Hinson; and a sister, Candy Lynn Bomhardt.

Services were set for noon today at Charles S. Zeiler & Sons, 6224 Eastern Ave., Baltimore.
