BALTIMORE -- One person was killed early today when a fire raced through a house in the 5300 block of Denmore Ave. in Pimlico.

The victim, a man whose identity was withheld pending notification of relatives, was found in a room by firefighters shortly before the blaze was declared under control. It was not immediately known if the victim was a resident of the house.

Reported at 3:54 a.m., the single-alarm fire quickly consumed the interior of the two-story frame dwelling, located at the corner of Denmore and Hayward avenues.

The blaze was declared under control at 4:39 a.m.
