Man attempts to elude police, then surrenders

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A man wanted on four felony warrants surrendered to police after officers persuaded him to come out of a residence in Severn, officials said.

Andre Maurice Ennis, 23, of the 1400 block of Jackson Road was being held without bail at the Anne Arundel County jail.

Police said Ennis had two outstanding warrants for failure to appear on a robbery charge, one warrant for failure to appear on a distribution of narcotics charge and another for violating probation on a robbery conviction.

Officer Stephen Torbeck of the Western District learned of Ennis' whereabouts Thursday when an informant told him Ennis was in a house in the 8300 block of Timberlake Court.

Officer Torbeck and several other officers surrounded the address shortly after 1 p.m.

Police said Ennis peeked out the front window, saw the officers and tried to leave by the back door. But two officers were watching the rear exit, and Ennis went back into the house.

Eventually, Officer Torbeck persuaded him to surrender.
