Tiger-Cats fire Gregory as coach

THE BALTIMORE SUN

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats fired coach John Gregory yesterday, two days after they dropped to 1-5 with a 30-15 loss to the Baltimore CFLs.

Gregory, 55, was replaced by defensive coordinator Don Sutherin. "There are 107 days to the Grey Cup, and we think we've got a chance to do something about it now," team president John Michaluk said.

Gregory, who also was fired as Hamilton's director of football operations, has a 57-75-1 record in eight seasons, including five years with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The Tiger-Cats' rematch with Baltimore will be Aug. 27 at Memorial Stadium.
