Shoremen tap J. Hopkins assistant

THE BALTIMORE SUN

John Haus, an assistant lacrosse coach at Johns Hopkins for the past eight seasons, was named coach at Washington College yesterday. He replaces Terry Corcoran, who resigned July 28 to become the coach at Pennsylvania.

Haus, 32, was a candidate for the coaching positions at Navy and Penn this summer. He also was a finalist for the UMBC job last year.

"Sure, I got turned down for several jobs. But I am very excited with this being the first one I was hired for," said Haus, who was defensive coordinator for Don Zimmerman and Tony Seaman. "I had some quality years at Hopkins and worked under some outstanding coaches. But it's time now that I get to see what I can do on my own."

Haus played for North Carolina from 1980 to 1983, when the Tar Heels compiled a 43-8 record. He played for two national championship teams and was twice selected as an All-American.
