Driver crashes into car in Pasadena, dies

PASADENA -- A 27-year-old Pasadena man died early yesterday morning when the car he was driving crashed head-on into a parked car, county police said.

Officer Norval Cooper, of the traffic safety section, said Joseph William Ballman, of the 8300 block of Dock Road, was driving a 1987 Chevrolet Camaro southbound in the 200 block of Hickory Point Road near Theis Drive shortly before 2 a.m. when he crossed the center line and crashed into a 1986 Chrysler New Yorker parked in front of a house on the opposite side of the road.

Officer Cooper said the motorist, who was apparently exceeding the posted 30 mph limit, was pronounced dead at the scene and that the cause of the accident remained under investigation.
