A 40-year-old Riva man has been charged with rape, kidnapping and assault of his former girlfriend.
George Galloway Jr. of the 3100 block of Riva Road is being held in the county jail in lieu of $225,000 bond. He was arrested at his home Thursday morning, hours after the woman reported the incident to police.
Police reports gave the following account of the assault:
The woman, who lives in Annapolis, was returning to her apartment Wednesday night about 11 a.m., when a man jumped out from behind some bushes.
He accused her of seeing other men and began to kick and beat her. He then grabbed her car keys and dragged her to her car. He drove her to the entrance of a farm in Davidsonville where he raped her and threatened to kill her.
The woman pleaded for her life and begged him to take her home, the report said.
The man did so, and after entering her apartment, disconnected the phones. He then played her answer machine, and upon hearing a male voice, began to beat her again.
The woman ran to neighboring apartments and banged on doors, but no one came to help.
The man caught her, dragged her back into the apartment and raped her a second time, according to the report. He left the apartment about 2:30 a.m. Thursday.
The woman called police and was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center, where she was treated and released.
