25 Years Ago (Week of July 27-August 2, 1969):

* A group representing the Howard County chapter of the NAACP addressed the Howard County school board with the complaint that black history was not included in the curriculum ,, guides for county public schools. Only Atholton High has plans for a black history course, as an elective.

* Several residents of the Font Hill Manor development were victims of a vandalism spree. At one home, outdoor furniture was thrown into a swimming pool. 50 Years Ago (Week of July 30-August 5, 1944):

* Charles A. Lotz of New Cut Road, Ellicott City, was appointed special police officer for the 2nd District. He was assigned to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, as well as on special assignments. Prior to his assignment, he had been working on his father's farm.
