* State police raided a "hippie haven" near Sudley in southern Anne Arundel County and came away with what they described as the largest haul of trimmed marijuana ever recovered in Maryland, weighing 21.6 pounds. Two men have been arrested. -- The Sun, Aug. 18, 1969.

* The proprietor of the Middleton Tavern in Annapolis is asking that his establishment be placed off limits to naval personnel assigned to ships visiting the city. -- The Sun, Aug. 20, 1969.

* Mrs. John W. M. Gardner, an Annapolis artist, who painted brightly colored flowers on a utility pole to improve the city's appearance, has been barred from using utility poles. She now proposes to paint garbage cans for anyone who brings them to the City Market on Sept. 6. -- The Sun, Aug. 28, 1969.
