Niewenhous promoted to operations director

Sue Niewenhous, a registered nurse, has been promoted to director of operations at Tri-Home Health Care & Services Inc. in Forest Hill.

Ms. Niewenhous previously was director of human resources. She joined Tri-Home 10 years ago as a home care nurse.

She is responsible for the internal operations of Tri-Home, a home health agency and hospice.

Corbin is acting chief of academic computing

Sharon P. Corbin, a registered nurse, has been named acting director of academic computing for the 1994-1995 academic year at Harford Community College.

Ms. Corbin, a member of HCC's nursing faculty since 1968, has been a faculty consultant to the college's Teaching and Learning Center for the past two years and is an active member of HCC's Academic Computing Committee.

She earned bachelor of science and master's degrees in nursinfrom the University of Maryland.

Ms. Corbin is the author of more than 20 computer-assisted instructional packages, including Curriculum Manager, a computer program that evaluates nursing curriculums in relation the NCLEX license examination.

In her new position, Ms. Corbin will assist the HCC faculty in integrating computing technologies into teaching and learning processes.

She will help in coordinating course and program competency requirements, and develop training programs for college faculty and staff.

Senator Amoss joins legislative college group

Sen. William H. Amoss, a District 35 Democrat, has been appointed to the Joint Legislative Work Group on Community College Financing. The group will study the role of and financing for community colleges in Maryland.

Senator Amoss has been instrumental in obtaining state money for improvements at Harford and Cecil Community colleges.
