Man's slaying linked to drugs, police believe

BALTIMORE -- Police investigating the fatal shooting of a northeast city man last night on a Barclay-area street said his death appeared to be drug-related.

Northern District police responding to a report of a shooting around 11 p.m. found the victim, Anthony D. Trotman, 33, of the 5300 block of Midwood Ave., lying on the pavement in front of a house.

Police said the man was shot several times and was near death when the crew of a city fire department ambulance administered first-aid before he was transported to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead at 11:47 p.m.

Police said the man had drugs on him and that he had a history of being a small-time drug dealer.

Cards found on the man indicated his Midwood Avenue address and led to his positive identification by relatives.

No arrest had been made in the case and police urged that anyone having information about the slaying should call the homicide squad at 396-2100.
