* Westminster: Four bicycles were stolen from various locations around the city from July 28 through Tuesday, police reported. Two bikes, of unknown value, were taken from the city playground July 28, and one valued at $165 was taken Sunday from a house on Middle Grove Court. The other, valued at $130, was stolen Tuesday from a house on Valley Bend Road.

An official of East Middle School on Longwell Avenue reported someone spray-painted the walls of the equipment building Monday. The cost of cleaning up the damage is not yet known, officials said.

A spokesman for the Westminster Bank and Trust office in the first block of E. Main St. reported that someone broke a front window of the bank over the weekend. The damage cost was unknown.

A resident of Pennsylvania Avenue told police someone broke her back door and searched her apartment Monday. She did not know if anything had been taken.

A resident of Sycamore Street reported someone opened her unlocked auto Sunday and stole personal property valued at $60 while the vehicle was parked on East Main Street.

FIRE

* Westminster: Engines from Westminster, Reese, Pleasant Valley and Manchester were dispatched to investigate the odor of gas in a building in the 100 block of Airport Drive at 2:58 p.m. Wednesday. Units were out for 25 minutes.
