The "Health Security Express," a caravan of buses loaded with proponents of health care reform, will be stopping in Baltimore at 5 p.m. today for a reception and to meet with members of the media.

The entourage, made up of representatives of more than 100 organizations, will be greeted at a University of Maryland Medical Center reception by Health and Human Services Secretary Donna E. Shalala.

However, no public events or rallies have been scheduled, said Dwight Kirk, a spokesman for Health Security Express.

The caravan is heading to Washington to drop off letters and telegrams to Congress, which is wrestling with a version of President Clinton's 1,345-page bill to revolutionize the way health insurance is provided in the United States.
