In Rhinebeck, N.Y., visitors catch history on the wing

THE BALTIMORE SUN

They call it a museum in the sky, and it's easy to see why. Every weekend afternoon, now through Oct. 15, high above the quaint village of Rhinebeck, N.Y., when you look up, you'll see history fly by.

About 100 miles north of New York City, the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome presents air shows that feature many actual historic aircraft (others are accurate copies powered with original engines). Examples on display and in the air date to the early part of the century.

Those who like to do more than watch may fancy the barnstorming rides in an open-cockpit biplane, before and after the air shows (15-minute flights cost $25). Show time is 2 p.m. Air shows: $10, adults; $5, kids 6-10. For additional information, call (914) 758-8610.
