Penn hires Corcoran as coach

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Terry Corcoran, who had a 127-56 record in 12 seasons at Washington College, was named coach of the men's lacrosse team at Penn yesterday.

He will replace G. W. Mix, who resigned from his alma mater in June after compiling a 20-33 record in four years. Last year, Penn (5-8) finished sixth in the seven-team Ivy League. The Quakers were outscored 161-135.

At Washington College, Corcoran guided the Shoremen to 10 NCAA tournament appearances, including four trips to the final. The Shoremen (7-4) ended last season with a loss to Salisbury State in the first round of the Division III tournament.

"I'm looking forward to being part of one of the top universities in the country and working with a nationally prominent lacrosse program that is rich in tradition," Corcoran said.
