One of the best early episodes of "Seinfeld" is repeated tonight, and that's the best broadcast TV has to offer. The rest of the action -- including new sitcom imports and an advance peek at one of the fall's new TV headliners -- is (during the summer, where else?) on cable.
* "In the Heat of the Night" (8 p.m.-10 p.m., WBAL, Channel 11) -- This series will go on hiatus, for at least half a season: Although it remains in production, it's not on the network's fall schedule. This two-hour episode, in which the formerly bigoted sheriff Gillespie (Carroll O'Connor) is honeymooning with Harriet, his African-American bride (Denise Nicholas), features Peter Fonda as a guest star -- playing a David Koresh-type religious zealot. CBS repeat.
* "Seinfeld" (9 p.m.-9:30 p.m., WMAR, Channel 2) -- Back in 1991, "Seinfeld" presented an episode called "The Parking Garage," in which Jerry Seinfeld and friends had problems finding their car, finding bathrooms, and finding a way out of a mall parking deck. It was, and remains, a claustrophobic, boundary-pushing classic. NBC repeat.

* "Absolutely Fabulous" (8:30 p.m.-10 p.m., Comedy Central) -- Watch or tape both these episodes tonight: The hospital visit and sex scandal in the first episode is a howl, and the death-in-the-family episode showcases Julia Sawalha's talents as Saffron. Jennifer Saunders, Joanna Lumley star.
* "In Concert" (9 p.m.-11 p.m., A&E;) -- Selections from separate concerts feature Paul Simon, James Taylor and Crosby, Stills & Nash.
* "House of Wax" (9 p.m.-11 p.m., TNT) -- In to night's installment of "Our Favorite Movies," Tim Burton reveals his affection for this 1953 horror film -- a touching choice, since Mr. Burton, decades later, directed its star, Vincent Price, in "Edward Scissorhands."
* "Bitter Vengeance" (9 p.m.-11 p.m., USA) -- Virginia Madsen stars in what, by now, is her umpteenth cable made-for-TV movie, this one for the USA Network. With Bruce Greenwood as co-star, "Bitter Vengeance" is interesting, and almost intriguing, for the first hour, then meanders toward an obvious and disappointing climax. Kristen Hocking, as Mr. Greenwood's partner in crime, has a few standout scenes, but that's partly due to her wardrobe.
* "HBO Comedy Half-Hour: Margaret Cho" (11 p.m.-11:30 p.m., HBO) -- This fall, Cho will star in "All-American Girl," a new ABC sitcom about a young Korean-American woman and her more traditional family. Tonight you can catch her in a less restrictive showcase, doing the stand-up act that got her the ABC job in the first place.
