Hampstead firm gets resurfacing contract

C. J. Miller Inc. of Hampstead has been awarded a $450,000 contract to resurface Route 94, Ellicott Road and Florence Road, in Howard County.

The project, expected to be completed in late October, covers four miles along Route 94 from Maryland Route 144, Frederick Road in Lisbon, to the Montgomery County line. The work will replace the deteriorated roadway and shoulders.

Single-lane closures will occur between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays.

Flag bearers, message signs, traffic cones and barrels will guide motorists through the construction area.

Mason-Dixon bank reports first-half income

Mason-Dixon Bancshares Inc. and its subsidiary, Carroll County Bank and Trust Co., have reported a net income of $3,480,067 for the first half of 1994, compared with $3,406,724 for the same period in 1993.

Net income on a per-share basis is $2.40 for the first six months of 1994, an increase of 5 cents over the same period for 1993.

The return on assets for 1994 was 1.44 percent, compared with 1.49 percent last year. The return on equity for the year to date totaled 16.05 per cent, compared with 17.82 percent for 1993.
