Resurfacing to begin on Interstate 70

Resurfacing of Interstate 70 in Frederick County began this week. The State Highway Administration project covers about 3.6 miles along the east and west lanes of I-70 from east of Ijamsville Road to Maryland Route 75, Green Valley Road.

Work includes replacing guard rails and installing pavement markers on both sides of the highway.

The work is necessary to replace deteriorated roadways.

Single-lane closures may occur at any time, SHA officials said. Double-lane closures also will be necessary but will not occur during peak traffic hours, 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. along eastbound I-70 and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. along westbound I-70.
