Police search for man who robbed video store

Aberdeen police are searching for a robber who walked into the Blockbuster Video store in the 1000 block of Beards Hill Road on Monday and punched the manager in the mouth.

Store manager Jeffrey Chandler, 33, had just left his office to make a bank deposit about 10 a.m.

After knocking Mr. Chandler to the floor, the robber took the bank bag and fled in a large burgundy-colored vehicle with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police said Mr. Chandler was not injured.

They described the robber as black, tall and thin, with a medium complexion and wearing a black sweat shirt and stocking cap.

Group offers reward in Edgewood break-in

Harford County Crime Solvers, a group of concerned citizens, is offering a reward up to $1,000 for the arrest and indictment of those responsible for breaking into and ransacking an Edgewood home in the 800 block of Mount Vernon Court on June 27 or 28.

Intruders threw food and liquid throughout the residence, damaging furniture, carpet, walls and a cassette player.

They also wrote racial and ethnic slurs on walls with a marking pen.

The intruders stole a telephone and answering machine.

Damage and losses were estimated at $1,000, police said.

* 2100 block of Emmorton Park Road: Someone stole metal shelving, coil units and four fans and motors from a refrigeration business Monday.

The loss was estimated at $1,240, deputies said.


* 3200 block of Charles St.: Someone stole a 1989 Dodge parked outside a residence July 15. A 15-inch color television, a videocassette recorder, a telephone answering machine and a watch were stolen from the house.

The loss was estimated at $5,925, deputies said.
