* Ellicott City: 10000 block of Century Drive: A woman told police she left her car running in the driveway to enter her house shortly after noon Tuesday, when someone attempted to steal the vehicle. After the person backed into another car in the driveway, he fled on foot.

* Elkridge: 7000 block of Brookdale Drive: A vehicle with the key left in it was stolen between 3:30 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. Tuesday and later recovered at a fast-food shop on Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard, police said.
