4 Westminster graduates given Rotary Club honors


The Rotary Club of Westminster recently honored four Westminster High School graduates.

Jessica Laine Steelberg and Luv Ram Javia received the Rotary Award, which has been given since 1927.

Nicholas Clark Ashbaugh and Erica Tracey Boyce received the Sherman E. Flanagan Jr. Memorial Scholarship. The $1,500 scholarships and the Rotary Award are given annually for academic achievement and community service.


* Westminster: A Long Valley Road resident reported someone stole an $835 bicycle from his garage Monday.

A Robins Way resident said someone took the license tag from his motorcycle while it was parked at his home Monday.

A Manchester resident reported that someone threw a rock against the windshield of her car, causing an estimated $300 in damage, while it was parked behind the Crossroads Square Shopping Center on Monday.

Two girls, ages 12 and 13, were charged with theft after a shoplifting incident at the Wal-Mart department store Sunday. City police said they were released into the custody of their mothers.

Officials of Wakefield Valley Golf Club reported that someone took a golf cart without permission Sunday.

An employee of United Used Cars on Green Street told city police Sunday that one of the dealership's vehicles had been set on fire. The damage was estimated at $600.

A resident of East Main Street told city police Sunday that someone scratched his car, causing an estimated $1,000 in damage.

The groundskeeper for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints told city police last Tuesday that an expansion joint was taken from the church's sidewalk. The joint was valued at $200.


* Westminster: Engines from the Westminster and Reese stations were sent to a fire in the 200 block of E. Green St. at 4:54 p.m. yesterday. They were out 16 minutes.
