Man arrested in assault of woman, police officer


Two off-duty county police officers arrested a man who attacked one of them after kicking a woman who lives in the first block of 5th Ave. S.W. Friday afternoon, officials said.

Linda Lee Fuhrer, 38, refused medical treatment after being kicked in the groin, police said. Ms. Fuhrer called police shortly after 4 p.m. to complain of a stranger trespassing in her back yard, police said.

Ms. Fuhrer went out to confront the man and was attacked, police said. Witnesses flagged down Officer Frederick Roth, who was driving a marked police car, officials said.

Officer Roth said the man then tried to enter Ms. Fuhrer's house. He spat at Officer Roth and also kicked him in the groin. It took four officers to subdue the suspect, police said.

James Stanley Zintek III of the 900 block of Magothy Ave., Arnold, was charged with assault, two counts of battery, resisting arrest and trespassing.

Man with knife robs pizza shop

A man armed with a steak knife jumped the counter of a Little Caesar's pizza shop in the 7400 block of Ritchie Highway on Sunday night and robbed the clerk of an undisclosed amount of cash, officials said.

The man came into the store shortly after 9 p.m., jumped the counter and pulled out the knife. He ordered the clerk to give him money and threatened to cut him, police said.

Police checked the area but could not find the man.

Equipment stolen from automotive store

Thieves stole $7,200 worth of equipment Friday morning from the Top Notch Automotive store in the 7600 block of Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd., county police said.

William Imwold, 32, the owner of the store, told police that the thieves took a $3,500 welder, $2,500 worth of tools, a $200 battery charger and a tire machine worth $1,000.

The property was stolen from a garage in the rear of the store, police said.

Mr. Imwold told police the garage door had been opened and relocked.
