Ex-Colt Hillenbrand dies

INDIANAPOLIS -- William F. Hillenbrand, a former player for the Baltimore Colts, has died. He was 72.

Hillenbrand played football for the Chicago Rockets and Baltimore Colts from 1946 to 1948.

He owned and operated Walters and Co. Brokerage for 21 years before selling the company in 1974. He retired from other business in 1987.

Hillenbrand was an Army veteran of World War II.

A 1946 graduate of Indiana University, he received All-Big Ten and All-America honors in football. He was president of the Manufacturers Association in 1970-71.

Hillenbrand died Sunday. Services will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Crown Hill Funeral Home in Indianapolis. Memorial contributions to charity were accepted.
