A verdict has been rendered in the case of the lost and found bat -- guilty.

The American League has suspended Albert Belle of the Cleveland Indians for 10 days for using a bat "found to have been treated with cork."

The key word is "found." Someone removed Belle's confiscated bat from the umpires' room at Chicago's Comiskey Park on Friday. On Sunday, the bat was returned.
